Every time I get in my car, I try warm thoughts but is not easy.  The days ARE getting longer...so on the bright side we have light!

As my two oldest sons finish their week of high school midterms, I am reminded we are 1/2 way through the school year.  Time to start thinking...Senior Portraits for anyone with a high school Junior/Senior.

When should you have them done?  It's up to you!  Ideally end of Junior year to the beginning of Senior fall.

Why hire me?  I will give you gorgeous portraits of your son/daughter;  portraits you can afford.   I promise.  Just ask around.

Let's talk about it!

Stay warm,

Heather

looking ahead https://heatherhenriksen.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/looking-ahead

Happy New Year!

Have you thought about a new resolution for the year?  I usually come up with a few things but truthfully... I tend to make resolutions throughout the year!  I am always "working" on something.

Last year I came up with the idea of a mantra or saying for the new year.  This year I have decided on just one word.

My Word is

"Focus."

Holiday Cards https://heatherhenriksen.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/12/holiday-cards Have you sent your Holiday cards yet?  I honestly have not even photographed my own children yet!  Just like the saying goes.. the painter that has not painted his own house..the photographer who has not photographed her own children!

welcome! https://heatherhenriksen.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/11/welcome Welcome to my blog!

I thought I would give you a chance to get to know me a little better...

My thoughts today are on portraits.

While photographing young children can be challenging, we can make it easier on ourselves by giving up ideas of the "perfect" portrait.

For starters if they feel comforted holding their favorite doll, I say we keep it in the portrait.  A little guy recently needed his "Ariel"  while I was photographing his school picture.   Of course, I could have zoomed in on just his face, but I didn't! I wanted to show what made him so happy.   I photographed him with Ariel on his lap.  His mother said she wanted to keep the doll in the final image because "it is a part of his life at this age" right now.  Looking back years later at this picture, they will be reminded of this time in his life.  I say let your child be himself.

Do you remember your child needing a favorite doll/ blanket/shirt during their day?
